Reorder pages for fold-and-staple booklet printing
Print double-sided, flipping on the SHORT edge. Fold the whole stack down the middle and staple the spine. If your printer has no duplex mode, print the odd sheets, put them back in the tray and print the even ones.
A folded sheet of paper carries four booklet pages, so the total has to be a multiple of four. We pad with blanks at the correct positions - dropping them instead would put every page after the fold on the wrong side of the paper.
A signature is one folded bundle. A thin booklet folds as a single bundle; a thick one will not close and the inner pages creep out of alignment, so it is split into 4- or 8-sheet bundles that are folded separately and gathered.
No. Booklet imposition rebuilds the document from embedded page content, so outlines, form fields and comments are not carried across. The page content itself stays fully vector - nothing is rasterized.
