Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my PDF has attachments?

Run it through this tool - it will say. Attachments live in the reader attachments panel rather than on the page, so most people never notice them; e-invoices and technical reports carry them routinely.

What is the difference between the two kinds it finds?

Document-level attachments belong to the file as a whole. Others are pinned to a specific page as a file-attachment annotation, often shown as a small paperclip on the page. Both are extracted.

Are the filenames safe?

Yes. Names come out of the PDF and are untrusted, so they are sanitised to plain filenames before they reach the ZIP - a name containing a path could otherwise write outside the folder you extract into.

What if two attachments have the same name?

They are numbered so nothing is overwritten inside the ZIP.
